‘Studiebyen Odense’ (Odense – The City of studies)

It has 4400 ‘likes’ / fans and is administrated by a department (Developing Fyn) that works with creating growth in the Funen business life and tourism sector. Different cultural places are using the page to post news about cultural activities in Odense.



Main goal

The targetgroup is students at higher educations in Odense – current and the coming. Attracting students to Odense and the different educational institutions is beneficial for Odense which has to compete with Copenhagen and Aarhus. Studies show that well educated people create growth. The goal is to make the young people and the students / coming students more interested in the Odense cultural life.

 

Lessons learned

Try to avoid too much unserious stuff but also incorporate some meaningful information – like tips on health, sport activities, recipes (that you can afford on a student budget). Get the local associations more involved, shops, restaurants. Also incorporate more interactivities like competitions (develop a ‘third part app’) and get more input from the students on which events they would like to happen in Odense (open activity plan).

Recommendations

  • Be aware of the target group – what are their needs?
  • Be sure to develop the page so that it doesn’t stand still. Try to measure the effect by using Google Analytics / Focusgroup. Also create a better synergy between the webpage and the Facebook page (create traffic from Facebook to the webpage)
